Privacy Policy

The Eurovirus contest was created to encourage and inspire households, families and individuals all around the world to use their time in isolation in a positive way, to take some of the focus off the hardships and sadness that have affected us as a global community, to be creative, and above all, to have fun. We (the contest organisers) have no interest in collecting or profiting from your personal data. Nonetheless, it is impossible to run a contest like this without collecting some information. This privacy policy aims to be fully transparent about this collection of data.

Collection and use of information

If you willingly share information with us (e.g. provide us with your email address, or share a comment with us on social-media) we will view it, store it and act on it in accordance with our legal responsibilities, this Privacy Policy, our ethical values, and common sense.

The Eurovirus contest entry form collects the following information:

  1. the URL for a video that you have uploaded to a third-party video service, such as Vimeo, Instagram or YouTube
  2. a title or caption that you choose to give your video
  3. a country that you choose to represent (which may be your actual country of residence)
  4. your email address.

This information is collected for the purpose of running and administering the contest. If you enter the contest, we require your email address so that we can contact you if we need to communicate with you regarding your entry, the contest or the results. We do not send unsolicited emails (spam).

Any video that you submit is, by virtue of it being hosted on a third-party video-streaming service, publicly available and subject to the privacy policies and other terms of that service. We may share this content on this website and our social-media accounts. (Links to our social-media accounts are found in the footer of this page.)

We use AWStats server software to collect anonymous site usage data.
